of thoughts and internal chaos 2; uncanny promises.

OF THOUGHTS AND INTERNAL CHAOS

MY THOUGHTS, MY INTERNAL CHAOS,
A man creates with his mind and not his hands, hence, creativity is born in our minds which is the hob of our  thought process and internal yearnings. Our daily experiences are the catalysts behind these thought processes which leave creativity in its wake. Hence, the all too popular saying ‘ necessity is the mother of all inventions’, and invention is only a crude manifestation of our creative disposition.
The urge for creativity has always plagued man like an incurable infectious disease. From the  Lascaux and Alta-Mira  cave paintings, to the ancient uli body and wall paintings, to the extensively competitive and academic works of the re-naissance era, to the aesthetically complex works of post-modernistic art, cr3eativity lurks in our minds, searching for the slightest opportunity to let off steam.
The life we lead today is an ardent manifestation of the vast world of ideas churned out via the internal rumblings of the human mind. From centuries of African magic and alternative medicine to our present day technologically advancing society of extremely dynamic hi-tech mobile phones, plush architecture, state of the art machineries, the internet, automated electronic gadgets, and the list is simply endless, all because our thoughts and bouts of internal chaos have played enormous roles.
Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.
‘…Of Thoughts and Internal Chaos’ is an ardent attempt to inject life and visual content into an inflexible society, bringing to the foreground, the fact that the average Nigerian is capable of thinking out possible solutions to whatever problem we may find our selves in, provided we are given the opportunity. In recent times, we are being led by a community of non-flexible archaic minds who call themselves politicians. Hence, they inject our minds with the viral, self destructive notion that forces us to se ablaze our much, once celebrated, over-zealously creative individuality. They keep talking about our rich cultural heritage while at the same time, they stack these heritage of ours in a lone ship bound for nowhere. This mental state has forced many vibrant, creative individuals to jettison their individuality, hence, forcing them to drastically alter their thought process and nudges as well as the enormous golden tongued wisdom they present. Making us nothing more than post-modern mental slaves to certain ideals that we have been fed with. Due to the incessant demands of modern society, most of us have lost our sense of origin, all in a bid to flow with the times. I am not saying that we should not welcome new trends in our fields of endeavor; all I am saying is that we can do this without altering our true essence and individuality
EVERY ACTION WE HAVE EVER UNDERTAKEN STARTED AS A THOUGHT. THIS PROMPTED THE PREMISE THAT MAN IS INDEED, A WALKING DREAM.A

OF THOUGHTS AND INTERNAL CHAOS

No matter how much one denies; the fact remains that we all have hidden thoughts about yesterday, today and tomorrow. Those thoughts either excite or scare the thinker. The world is filled with minds that tick with thoughts every passing second. Every thought has the potential to materialize into a tangible entity, just as every being has the ability to create or recreate depending on what resources are at their disposal.

Thoughts are series of mental and intellectual activities involving an individual’s subjective-consciousness. 1 For an artist, thoughts either come in the subconscious or in the conscious depending on the individual; after which they can be translated into drawings, paintings, sculptures, textiles, ceramics, and so on. By experience and practice, every artist gains some level of control over the imageries that come into their head. For some, they choose to have fairy and rosy thoughts while others prefer mystic and chaotic ones that transforms into absurd, rigid and scary art forms.

Chaos is always part of the artists thinking process. Chaotic thoughts can start calmly and end in a wild fire of unending aberrations. The thoughts of an artist are unpredictable. The dynamism can be sporadic as well as spontaneous, leaving the artist with a lot or few fragments to recollect. Sometimes, the epileptic nature of infernos thoughts drives the artist into a period of hibernation; where he synthesizes and synergizes his thoughts into a brilliant out-pour of vibrant, eye-tantalizing, artistic grandeur.

‘Of thoughts and internal chaos’ is one of such exhibitions that brings alive the orchestration of cacophonous and rhythmic thoughts re-vibrating within the mind of the artist. In this exhibition, the artist has converted his inspirations, aspirations, and experiences into splashes of colours, hues of wood, textures of drapes, and harmonious assemblage of various elements that perfectly make concrete statements about his internal quagmire.

The colour schemes, media, and imageries used in the works are evident of the unique nature of the thoughts the artist has experienced during a given period of time. The personality of the artist is apparent in his works: his use of rigidity, textures, romance, essence, and undisputable rhythm can be seen intertwined in the depths, thickness, and richness of each work, evoking an awe that leaves one bamboozled into curiosity. Without doubt, each piece of art stands out on its own or can be seen as a conglomeration of a single piece. Each work has its own peculiar interpretation and flavour that makes you wonder how much time and resources the artist has consumed in the course of putting together this eloquent show of artistic statements.
